SALT LAKE CITY – Salt Lake City police are investigating a shooting with several people detained for questioning Sunday evening.
According to SLC PD, the shooting sent one person to the hospital in critical condition at the Downtown West apartment complex at approximately 8:50 pm
SLC PD spokesperson Brent Weisberg said this shooting happened inside of an apartment unit, and officers arrived at a “chaotic scene.”
He described how officers immediately began life-saving efforts on the shooting victim while making the area safe for the apartment community.
It appeared the shooting knew was not random and that everyone involved each other.

Because of the extent of the victim’s injuries, Weisberg said the homicide squad was called to the scene to investigate.
“What’s going to happen now is our homicide detectives are going to come out, they’re going to start processing the scene, talking with any witnesses, trying to gather what happened here,” he said.
Weisberg said they don’t believe there’s any danger to the community, especially as they’ve detained several people already as part of the ongoing investigation.
They are not releasing the victim’s name or any information about the victim at this time.
