Parade celebrates veterans in Vine Grove | Local News

Several residents lined Main Street in Vine Grove on Saturday waving American flags as the city hosted its annual Veterans Day Parade.

The parade started at St. Brigid Church and traveled down Main Street to Optimist Park.

Mayor Pam Ogden said the event was an opportunity for the community to show area veterans how much they are loved and appreciated for the sacrifices they have made and continue to make.

“The Veterans Day parade is my absolute favorite event,” Ogden said. “Honoring veterans who sacrificed for us in so many ways, how can that not be a good day.”

Lasting about 30 minutes, the parade featured numerous participants, including JROTC groups from Fort Knox Middle High School, John Hardin High School and North Hardin High School as well as the Vine Grove VFW Post 10281, other veterans’ agencies and political candidates.

“The parade was filled with so many people lining the streets, candy, flags and emotional speakers,” Ogden said. “It was a perfect day.”
