PAUL MUKLEWICZ | News, Sports, Jobs

Paul Adolph Muklewicz was born on March 20, 1950 in Steubenville, Ohio. He played offensive tackle for Steubenville High School, where he was letterman for coach Abe Bryan’s teams for three years in 1966, 1967 and 1968.

After graduating from Steubenville High School in 1969, he and lifelong friend James Mavromatis went to Glendale Community College in Arizona, where they started on the gauchos soccer team. In 1971 Paul planned to move to the University of Miami (Florida), which offered him a full scholarship to play football. Instead, he moved to Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah, where he played offensive tackle under coaches Tom Hudspeth and Lavelle Edwards.

At BYU, Paul married Deborah Kay Ledbetter, with whom he had three children – Jacob Thomas Muklewicz (Alma) from Lehi, Utah; Jeremy Paul Muklewicz of Dallas, Texas; and Tara Vanessa Alexander (deceased).

Paul is preceded in death by his parents Stanley Jacob Muklewicz and Wanda Edna Pick; his brother Stanley Muklewicz; and daughter Tara Vanessa Alexander.

All his life Paul helped his family, friends and those in need. After his double shift at Titanium Metals, where he worked in the pipe mill and laboratory for over 20 years, he looked after his mother, the late Chief George Mavromatis, whom he considered his second father, as well as his family and friends on a daily basis.

In his later years, he enjoyed teaching his grandchildren – Mikaela, Agnieszka, Paulina, Jakub, and Jadwiga – to swim and cycle. He played with them in the park and took them on rides in his pickup truck.

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Paul believed in the truth of the eternal family. He often performed religious rites for his deceased ancestors in holy temples wherever he lived.

Paul rejoices in the blessed reunion with his beloved family members who greeted him on his death. He will continue to take care of the family members and friends he left behind.

Office hours are Monday from 4pm to 6pm at Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. The funeral will take place on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. The burial follows in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
