PHOTOS: ‘Casper Masters’ golf duo in Florida for 2022 Special Olympics USA Games

CASPER, Wyo. — Shane Rogers and his golfing partner Mike Ogden, a sergeant with the Casper Police Department, are in Florida for the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games.

“The team is in Flordia right now at the games,” the Casper PD said via Facebook on Monday. “Help us cheer them on as they represent Wyoming and Casper.”

Rogers and Ogden landed on the team name “Casper Masters” for their partnership during a practice game at the Casper Municipal Golf Course on May 18. The two are among a delegation of 45 people with Special Olympics Wyoming traveling to Florida for the June 5- 11 games. The games and opening ceremony will be broadcast by ESPN and ABC networks.

Rogers was picked to represent Team Wyoming after competing with Special Olympics for nearly 40 years.

“I didn’t realize what was going on until I was told, and I was pretty excited when I found out,” Rogers said during the May practice game. “It’s going to be a fun day just being around all the Special Olympics guys and getting to know everybody.”

“There’s a good chance I could come back with the trophy.”
