Phyllis A. Andrews was born in Price, Utah on November 22, 1938 to Rell Anderson and Lois Alger. She passed away surrounded by family on June 18, 2022. She spent most of her childhood in Sunnyside, Utah. She graduated from Carbon High School at Price in 1957. She attended Daryl’s College of Beauty in Salt Lake City, Utah and graduated in 1959.
She worked in salons in Salt Lake, Price, East Carbon, Logan and Brigham City, Utah before owning Phyllis Beauty Salon in Rock Springs, Wyoming. She was gifted and talented in all piano aspects of her life which allowed her to own a dance and aerobic studio and to teach and voice lessons.
But her greatest love was her family and their successes in life. She loved making quilts and other personal gifts including crafts for specials occasions throughout their lives. She loved people and spent much of her life in the service of others.
Phyllis married Paul M. Andrews in the Manti Utah Temple on June 4, 1960. They were transferred to various locations in Utah and Wyoming but when the transfer to Washington DC came Phyllis informed Paul that she was going to see the sights and learn the history of our great country. When he would go home from work she would always say, “guess where I have been today?” He never had a clue.
Phyllis was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had a strong testimony and love for Jesus Christ. She served in various organizations in the various wards and stakes where they lived. She served twice as a Ward Relief Society President and President of the Ashley Stake Relief Society in Vernal, Utah.
Phyllis and Paul served together in several church calls. They served a Church Education Mission at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana in the church institute program and in the Presidency in the Vernal Utah Temple.
Phyllis was proceeded in death by her parents Rell and Lois Anderson, three sisters, Loretta Preston, Patsy Howard and Carolyn Kranker. She is survived by her husband Paul, brother, David (Kathy) Anderson, of Draper, Utah, sons Gregory (Jeanette), Andrews of Bluffdale, Utah Chris (Cary) Andrews of Little Rock, Arkansas, and daughters, Lynne (Mark) Becraft of West Point, Utah and Sheli (Kirt) Monson of Maeser, Utah, 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Services for Phyllis will be held on Friday, June 24, at 11:00 AM at the Vernal 9th ​​Ward Chapel at 200 West 250 North in Vernal. Visitations for family and friends will be held on Thursday, June 23, from 6 to 8 PM at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary at 15 East 100 North Vernal, Utah and at 10 A M. prior to the services at the church.
Interment will be in the Price, Utah City Cemetery at 3:00 PM on June 24, 2022 under the direction of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
