Police seeking ‘person of interest’ in South Salt Lake homicide

SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah – South Salt Lake Police are investigating an early Saturday morning murder.

SSLPD officers were dispatched to the Southern X-posure Show Club at 3420 S. State Street at around 12:10 p.m. for a report of shots fired, according to a Facebook Live post on the department’s official site. A man in his mid-twenties was found injured and taken to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The officers did not provide exactly where the shots were fired or any other details about what happened.

A male suspect fled the area and police initially said information about him was limited. They later published a photo of a “person of interest” in the murder that appeared to be from surveillance footage in a grocery store. He is described as a man in his mid-twenties, about six feet tall and with short hair.

The department also posted a photo of the vehicle they believe may have escaped the scene. It’s a 2007 gold BMW SUV with the Utah license plate U82 2UE. Police say it is registered at a Murray address, but they did not reveal the name of the SUV owner or person of interest.
