OGDEN — Lack of snow is preventing what Powder Mountain officials hope becomes an annual event — a snowmobile competition at the tail end of the ski season.

But the live music scheduled as part of the inaugural HillFest event will go on — at the Ogden Amphitheater and Union Station in Ogden. The activities kick off on Friday and go through Sunday.

Among the performers will be The Proper Way, the North Mississippi Allstars, Fruition, Imag!nary Friends, Bumbin Uglies and Andy Frasco and The UN

Triple Crown Sports, the Rocky Mountain Snowmobile Hillclimb Association and Powder Mountain are the organizers behind HillFest. Due to “low snowfall, warm conditions and rapid snowmelt” in recent weeks, though, event plans took a twist, with the decision to cancel the snowmobile competition planned as part of the event, organizers said in a statement.

“However, the music will go on!” the statement said. And to make it more accessible, the venues will all be in downtown Ogden instead of Powder Mountain. The main concerts will be held on Saturday and Sunday at the amphitheater while “pre- and post-event” concerts will be held at Union Station.

The music on Saturday and Sunday at the amphitheater will go from noon to 6 pm each day. The Union Station events set for Friday and Saturday will go from 7 pm to midnight each evening. Tickets and one- and two-day passes range, variously, from $30 to $140. More details and ticket information is available at tchillfest.com/tickets.html.

JP Goulet, the Powder Mountain spokesperson, said resort officials hope to make HillFest an annual event.
