SLUG: What does it mean where you decided to build your brewery?

Flaming Gorge Brewing Company: For those new to Flaming Gorge, I think this big, beautiful lake is better than Lake Powell. There’s boating, as well as record-breaking lake trout and world-class fly fishing on the Green River. There is miles of pristine wilderness for camping, hiking, and rafting, and there is enormous potential for it to become a mountain bike mecca. It’s a hidden gem with untapped potential … and we’re here to unlock it.

SLUG: What does the brewery look forward to most when it comes to beer selection?

Flaming Gorge Brewing Company: We’re going to have three staples [beers] with a seasonal change: a Linwood camp named after the town that is now under the Flame Gorge; a Hideout Hazy IPA – Hideout was a coffee shop frequented by Butch Cassidy, the Sundance Kid; and the Sheep Creek Sour … [named after] a beautiful tributary of the Flaming Gorge.

SLUG: What is the schedule for the opening of the Flaming Gorge Brewing Company?

Flaming Gorge Brewing Company: We originally planned to open by Memorial Weekend, but we had a number of construction and supply setbacks. In general we just really hope to be able to open before summer [2021] ends. There will definitely be an event and probably one of the biggest the city has ever seen!

SLUG: What can you tell us about your location and the importance of your Logan, Utah brewery?

Prodigy Brewing: We’re excited to be involved in the revitalization of historic downtown Center Street in Logan. As the first brewery in Cache Valley, it stands to reason that we are right in the heart of the city. Our goal is to be THE brewery for our community and we couldn’t have asked for a better location.

SLUG: As a brewery, you also offer food. What will your menu and beer menu look like?

Prodigy Brewing: We strive for an upscale twist on classic brewpub dishes with both our food and our beer. On our menu we offer small and large bites to satisfy every taste with favorites such as beer and cheese dip and a burger with all the ingredients. One aspect of our menu that we’d love to bring to the Logan is an “after 9pm” menu to satisfy cravings late into the night. Our beer menu shows the different style preferences of our founders, from authentic Czech and German lagers to full-bodied Belgian highlights. Of course, we’ll have a robust hop-forward IPA to round out the mix.

SLUG: Prodigy Brewing is expected to open in summer 2021. What is the official opening date?

Prodigy Brewing: We’d like to announce an official opening date! There are still so many moving parts in preparation for the opening, but we’re aiming for early August.
