Pueblo Panda looking for love in Salt Lake City | News

Priya, a female red panda and former resident of the Pueblo Zoo, has departed for the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City, Utah, on a mission to find love — or at the very least, procreate. Months ago, the Hogle Zoo created a Facebook post: “Single Male searching for Salt Lake City Soulmate.” When employees at the Pueblo Zoo came across the post, an arrangement was made.

The animals, native to the eastern Himalayas in China, Bhutan and Nepal, are endangered due to habitat loss and poaching. Researchers estimate the red panda population has seen a 40 percent decline in just the last two decades.
