Residents Ask Clearfield Borough to Pave Part of Ogden Avenue – GantNews.com

CLEARFIELD – Resident Marv Smith on Thursday encouraged Clearfield Borough Council to pave other blocks of Ogden Avenue, particularly around Sixth through Eighth Streets.

According to Smith, some parts of these roads have not been paved for 50 years. Resident Lori Polito also helped Smith on the subject of plasters.

She found that an alley near her residence is slowly eroding until real bricks come to the surface of the street.

The district operations manager, Leslie Stott, assured both residents that she would pass this information on to the Roads Department.

Smith also gave the council a folder containing suggestions for the 9/11 memorial service for the next year. He said the portion of the service that began in Lower Witmer Park that year was very good, but the rest of the service in the courthouse could have been better.

For the next week and the following week, residents of the district will be warned that Front Street, including some aprons from side streets, will be paved. The traffic will be more hectic than with the project.

Snow removal proposals were made, one by Bowman Masonry and another by BJOE. Stott stated that the Street Department will handle the snow removal for the district, but it’s good to have the suggestions on hand just in case the services of these companies are needed.

The council also approved a recommendation to review the ordinance and fees for mechanical devices in the community. Mechanical devices are considered pool tables, jukeboxes and pinball machines.

According to attorney F. Cortez “Chip” Bell, the mechanical device ordinance applies to the craft machines that have recently surfaced in the district.

Councilor Steve Livergood mentioned that some companies in the counties are counting on revenue from the qualification machines to keep the companies afloat during the pandemic.
