Richard G. Jameson Obituary – The Spectrum and Daily News

Richard G. Jameson died peacefully on May 30, 2022, at his home in Ivins, Utah surrounded by his family, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Rick was born October 27, 1948, in Pasadena, California to Brad and Marion Howard Jameson. Rick grew up in a military family and proudly served in the army during the Vietnam War. By the time Rick graduated from High School, he had attended 17 different schools. Finding a place to call home was very important to Rick. He found that home while attending Southern Utah State College in Cedar City, Utah where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology and a minor in Economics. He received a Master of Social Science Degree from Utah State University along with a Master of Science of Taxation from William Howard Taft University. While attending college, Rick met the love of his life, partner in crime and soul mate, Cheri Weston in 1979. They were married in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1980. Cheri and Rick were always doing things together whether it was traveling to Europe , going on cruises or managing any of their many rental properties. Rick enjoyed weekends at their cabin and winters at their home in Palm Springs, CA. Rick adored Cheri and together they built a life filled with fun, love and dogs. Rick started his career as the Health Director for the Paiute Indian Tribe. He worked diligently for the tribe for 7 years successfully securing many grants for their economic benefit. As a result, Rick was introduced to tax issues, which he loved and started his final career of tax preparation. He purchased his first H&R Block franchise in Cedar City, Utah. He worked hard to build a successful business and added another location in St. George, Utah and later a satellite branch in Hurricane, Utah. Rick enjoyed decades of doing taxes, mentoring employees, and growing the business. After selling the franchises, Rick chose retirement in Palm Springs, CA for many seasons. Rick came out of retirement to start a private practice with business partner, Lori Gailey. Together they built another successful business doing what Rick loved: TAXES!! Rick was an active member of the Harley Davidson’s Association of HOG’s. He owned several Harley’s throughout his lifetime and completed 4 posse rides which totaled 10,000 miles each with Cheri. Together they visited all 48 lower contiguous states. They rode through blazing heat, snow, rain, sleet and an occasional tornado which the locals would help by sheltering them in place. They created many lifelong memories and enduring friendships while riding his Harley. Rick had a soft spot and great love for Golden Retrievers. His first pair were Dawn and Ryan. Then came Lucy, Roxie, Molly, Gracie and Stella. Rick is preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law Tony Ladakis and many furry babies. He is survived by his beloved wife Cheri Jameson, mother-in-law Barbara Ladakis, sister-in-law Melissa Ladakis, nephew Cole Chandler and brothers Howard (Lynn) Jameson and William (Paula) Woods. A special thanks to Lori Gailey, Emily Cheney, Natalie Ogden and Carly with Intermountain Hospice. A private celebration of life will take place on July 9, 2022 for family, close friends and clients. Hosted by Rick and Cheri’s life long friend, Stacy Christensen.
