Bountiful, UT—Ronald Glen Day, 87 years old, passed away peacefully after a short battle with Melanoma Lung Cancer on April 15, 2022. Ronald (Ron) was born November 18, 1934 in Fairview, Utah to his parents Arthur and Ida ( Garlick) Day.

Ron graduated from Provo High School in 1953. After graduation, he worked as an auto parts salesman and as a service station attendant. During this time, he studied auto mechanics at Central Utah Vocational School in Provo, Utah.

Ron joined the US Navy in June of 1954. He was assigned to the Attack Mining Squadron Ten P2V-6 flight crew as an Airborne Electronics Counter Measure Operator. He fulfilled his operational assignment as part of the US Taiwan Patrol Force. He served honorably and was discharged in June of 1958.

Ronald met Shirlene Mecham Reid on a blind date the fall of 1959 and fell in Love! They were married December 4, 1959 in Provo, Utah. Ron and Shirlene built a new home and moved to Bountiful, Utah in 1960 as Ron was employed nearby at Sperry/Unysis. Here in this Bountiful home raised five children: Sherry Reid Barmore (Gary); Denise Reid Maldonado (Angelo); Wayne (Mary Ann); Michael (Mary); Lisa Day Daniels (Troy). Ronald is survived by his wife of 62 years. Shirlene, his five children and their spouses, 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers Merrill Day, Bryant Day, nieces, nephews and numerous cousins. Ronald is predeceased by his parents, two baby sisters ? and ?, grandson Christopher John Reid and grandson Jeremiah Johnson.

Ronald had many hobbies and interests. He loved remodeling their home and he created and nurtured his entire landscaping with waterfalls and a Koi pond. He was also an avid coin collector and a model train enthusiast.

Ron and Shirlene loved going Dancing and enjoyed many evenings with family and friends at the Murray Mac Dance Theater. Ron and Shirlene went on their 1st Cruise in 1997 to the Caribbean. During the next sixteen years, they took 27 cruises to ports all around the world. They looked forward to dancing and spending special time together.

Ronald’s chose to be cremated. There will be graveside service cremation internment at the Bountiful City Cemetery on Saturday, April 30th at 11:00 am. Then at approximately 1:00 pm, there will be a Celebration of Life luncheon at Ronald and Shirlene’s LDS Ward Chapel at 2633 South 50 East.

His children would like to thank Carly, our Mom and Dad’s Hospice Nurse from South Davis Hospice Center. She quickly became part of the family and looked after Mom and Dad. Thank you, Carly, for the compassion you showed all of us. You are a gifted Angel! We would like to thank Teresa, also from South Davis Hospice. She was always kind, caring and helped us understand the incredible grief we were going through.
