Salt Lake City firefighters go door to door to prepare homeowners for fire season

Salt Lake City firefighters are encouraging people to prepare now for a potentially harsh fire season.

“Think ahead and have a plan,” said Tony Allred, firefighter.

“When the fire trucks hit your street, it’s a good idea to think about what you’re going to do beforehand as it will be a stressful situation.” The Salt Lake City Fire Department has some resources online for defensible space and other important aspects of the field Protection of property. They also visit your property to make personalized recommendations.

Firefighters went door-to-door in Greater Avenues with information on Friday.

Expect a dry summer.

“A wet spring is great until it gets really tinder-dry in June, July, August and September,” said Allred. “That almost corresponds to a worst-case scenario.”
