Salt Lake City police looking for suspect in deadly shooting downtown Sunday morning

A 21 year old man was killed.

(Salt Lake City Police Department) Police are looking for Roy Anthony Duran, 20, in connection with a fatal shootout that occurred in downtown Salt Lake City on Sunday morning.

Police are looking for a suspect in a shooting in downtown Salt Lake City that resulted in the death of a man.

Witnesses said Roy Anthony Duran, 20, fled the scene of the shooting on Sunday morning before officers arrived, according to a Salt Lake City police press release.

Isaiah Valerio, 21, died on the scene, police said.

At 1:23 a.m. on Sunday, 911 dispatchers were informed of a shooting near 500 West and 600 South in Salt Lake City. When officers responded, they found Valerio in critical condition and started carrying out life-saving measures, police said, but he died.

According to preliminary information, the shooting was “somehow a disturbance”.

Police believe several other witnesses to the shooting may have fled the area before the officers arrived. The Salt Lake City police force anyone with information about the case or photos or videos of the moments leading up to the shooting to call 801-799-3000 and reference number 21-195834.

Duran, who according to police should be considered armed and dangerous, has tattoos on his right forearm and hand and one on the neck under his right ear. Anyone who knows Duran’s whereabouts should call 911 immediately, police said.
