Salt Lake City ranks as second-best city for mental health

A new report ranked Salt Lake City as the second best city in the country for mental health.

The city ranked behind Denver but ahead of Minneapolis.

  • Salt Lake City had an overall score of 37.38, which is slightly below Denver’s 40-point score. Meanwhile, Minneapolis had a score of 36.93.
  • The report – which comes from CertaPet – rates every major US city on the basis of 50 points.
  • According to the CertaPet press team, the report incorrectly listed Minneapolis as the # 2 city, even though Salt Lake City had the higher score. After asking about the rankings, CertaPet said it would update its report to reflect the real numbers.

The report ranked each city on a number of factors including:

  • Rate of Therapy Sessions.
  • Total prescription fees.
  • Compulsory Treatment Laws.
  • Criminalization through mental illness.
  • Population per psychiatrist.
  • Days of poor mental health.
  • The general well-being of the community.

The report aimed to explain the best mental health cities in the country so people know where to find the best care and treatment for any problems that arise.

“Fortunately, mental illnesses have slowly become more supported and understood over the years,” the report said. “However, we still have a long way to go. From the criminalization of mental health to the rising cost of prescriptions and therapies, roadblocks remain between Americans in mental decline and the help they need – be it an animal for emotional support, a life-changing drug, or just a friendly face. “
