Sharon Lynne Burnett Hoffman

1938 ~ 2021

Beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Sharon Lynne Burnett Hoffman died on July 2, 2021. She was born on August 24, 1938 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to the eldest daughter of Ralph Clyde Burnett and Rosella Craig. She married Frank John Hoffman on July 31, 1957. She attended Granite High School and graduated from Stevens-Henager College in 1957. Although she spent most of her life in Utah, she and Frank also lived in Aberdeen Maryland, Chicago, Illinois, and Denver, Colorado

Sharon was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served long hours in her church wherever she lived, including twice as Relief Society general president, twice as counselor, once as secretary, and as a stake member. They particularly enjoyed their calling to teach young women.

Sharon has also volunteered for organizations such as the Multiple Sclerosis Society and United Cerebral Palsy. She was also a community organizer in her youth.

Sharon’s frequently repeated advice was, “Watch what you want because you might get it.” She lived according to the verse from Philippians 4:11: “… I have learned to be content with whatever state I am in.” She was always kind, thoughtful, loyal, generous, and possessed a gentle sense of humor.

Sharon was an avid reader, shared a love of classics and musical films with Frank, enjoyed traveling and gardening, and really loved chocolate.

Survived by her sister Susan (David) Gee, children Michael (Emily), MerryAnn, Kenneth, Ronald (Bonnie) and Robert, 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband and daughter Gaylynne.

The family would like to thank their nephew, Jeff Gee, their neighbors, and members of the Glenmore 3rd Ward.

The funeral will take place on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Glenmoor 3rd Ward, 9455 South 4800 West, South Jordan, Utah. The tour runs from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. with worship at 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 Highland Dr. Instead of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.
