Sharon Johnson Obituary (1947 – 2022) – Vernal, UT

Sharon Delores Zufelt Johnson
Our beloved wife and mother slipped the bonds of mortality and into the arms of her Savior and many family members and friends on July 2, 2022. She came into this mortal world on May 31, 1947 to Margret Arlene Boughan and Clifford Harold Zufelt in Durango , Colorado. Her first home was at Red Mesa, Colorado. Over the next few years the family also lived in Everson, Washington, Dry Fork and Maeser, Utah then finally to a home the family built themselves in Maeser. Sharon attended Uintah County Schools graduating from Uintah High School with the class of 1965. The next year was spent at the Continental College of Beauty in Salt Lake City after which she went to work at Halmars Beauty Salon in ZCMI. When her missionary, Perry V. Johnson came home they were married in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on June 7, 1968. They were happily married for 54 years living in Logan, Sandy and Kearns, Utah , Gardnerville, Nevada; retiring to Maeser and coming full circle back home. Three children were born to the couple, Camille, Andrew Perry and Amanda. There were the focus and joy of their lives. Sharon was a sweet and loving mother with a core of steel which kept herself and others on the right path. She was a kind, sweet and loving friend to all to who knew her putting others ahead of herself sometimes to her own detriment. But beware of teasing her too much! That core of steel had some fire in it too!
She enjoyed serving in the church over the years holding most callings in the Primary, Young Women and Relief Society some multiple times as she lived in different wards. The crowning calling was to serve in the Vernal Utah Temple with her eternal companion, Perry for over 8 years working two shifts a week. She made many wonderful eternal friends in that special place.
She loved being with family and friends especially on the motorcycle touring with her best friend, Perry. She loved being on the bike traveling to Jackson Hole, the redwoods in California and the Oregon coast stopping at each lighthouse for a special visit. They had a loop up the coast, across the top of Washington, down through Glacier, Yellowstone and Teton National parks which they loved to travel, alternating directions every other time. She loved working in the yard, flower gardens being one passion and dandelions another! She was seldom outside without a dandelion digger in her hip pocket.
She was a bright lighthouse in the lives of her family and friends, a stalwart beacon drawing people to her, a North Star in our lives. We miss her greatly, and are anxiously looking forward to the next Great Reunion with her.
She is survived by her husband, Perry V. Johnson, her children Camille (Todd) Griffith, Magna; Andy (Ann) Johnson, Silver Springs, Nevada and Amanda (Brad) Buehner, North Salt Lake; eight grandchildren; her mother, Margret Zufelt ; sister Dorene Allred and many aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
