The Fremont High alumnus and Los Angeles Angels minor leaguer pitched a scoreless inning in Saturday’s MLB All-Star Futures Game.

The Futures Game annually showcases the top minor league prospects in baseball in a seven-inning game that takes place over All-Star Weekend.

Bush needed 15 pitches to get through the third inning. He forced the St. Louis Cardinals’ No. 1 prospect Jordan Walker to ground out, then forced the Los Angeles Dodgers’ No. 5 prospect Miguel Vargas to ground out.

Vargas played for the Ogden Raptors in 2018, when they were still affiliated with the Dodgers, and batted .394 in 22 games with 11 doubles. Vargas now plays for Triple-A Oklahoma City and could jump to the majors very soon.

After forcing Vargas to ground out, Bush gave up a single to the Colorado Rockies’ top prospect, outfielder Zac Veen. Veen stole second base and third base before New York Met’s prospect Mark Vientos walked.

With runners at the corners, Bush struck out Cardinals prospect Masyn Winn in three pitches to end the inning. The American League Futures team beat the National League Futures team 6-4 in seven innings.

The 22-year-old Bush, a second-round draft pick in 2021 who signed for $1.75 million, is rated as the Angels’ No. 4 prospect, according to MLB.com, with an estimated MLB debut year of 2024.

Bush is currently pitching for the Double-A Rocket City Trash Pandas in Alabama. The 6-foot-6 left-hander has a 3.34 ERA in 67 1/3 innings pitched with 67 strikeouts against 20 walks in 14 starts for Rocket City so far this season.
