The Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Department is searching for the family of a man who went missing and died in Flaming Gorge Reservoir earlier this year.

On Sunday, MPs were called to the reservoir’s Anvil Draw campsite after someone discovered a dead man in his motor home. The man was later identified as 79-year-old Ronnie Baze Sumner, who apparently died at the site months earlier.

Sumner’s death didn’t seem suspicious.

However, in the course of the investigation, MPs found that the older man led a rather lonely and withdrawn lifestyle, which made it difficult to identify who was next of kin.

Sumner was born in Las Vegas but has lived in Casper, Manila and Green River, Utah throughout his life.

Anyone with information on Sumner’s family should contact the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Department.

This is not the first Flaming Gorge fatality this year.

In August, a man and his son were seen leaving their campsite in a 4×4 vehicle in the middle of the night. An eyewitness later reported that the couple never returned to the camp.

The boy’s body was found in the reservoir a few days later.
