1943-2021

Salt Lake City, UT – On Sunday, August 15, 2021, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather Takaaki “Tony” Shiraki passed away at his home in Salt Lake City, UT. Takaaki was born in 1943 to Yoshio Shiraki and Matsuko Nakano in Kobe, Japan. In 1967 he boarded a ship and came to the United States to make the American dream come true. On June 21, 1972, he married Eva Becerril of Veracruz, Mexico. Together they raised 2 children, Yoshi and Jackie.

Professionally trained in Japan, Takaaki had a passion and talent for the hairdressing trade. He got his first job at the ZCMI Department Store in Salt Lake City. His work ethic and skill enabled him to open 3 successful salons in his life, most notably Kami Hair in Holladay Utah which had been in business for more than 30 years. Takaaki loved art, travel, reading and spent time with his 5 grandchildren Delanie (18), Kelsey (15), Blake (13), London (6) and Ella (3).

Takaaki was preceded in death by his father and mother. He leaves behind his wife Eva, 2 children and their spouses Yoshi and Yanilda Shiraki as well as Bradley and Jackie Finnigan.

An open house celebration will be held at Latter-day Saints Church of Jesus Christ on 7035 Nutree Drive, Cottonwood Heights, UT on August 21, 2021, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. He will be missing more than words can say.

Instead of flowers, it can also contribute to child abuse prevention in Utah.
