Terri Unander Basinger Obituary (1953 – 2022) – Orem, UT

Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Terri Lynn Unander Basinger, passed away on September 13, 2022 surrounded by her family.
Terri was born to Jeanette Saxton and Delwin Earl Unander on October 2, 1953 in Ogden, Utah. She has lived in various locations in Utah; Reno and Las Vegas, Nevada; Redding and Cottonwood, California; and, most recently, Provo, Utah.
She lived her life devoted to her family. Reflecting on her life, she said I loved being a mom. The happiest time of my life was having and raising my children. I feel so blessed to have a good family and that my children talk to me and have good relationships with each other. That is the greatest blessing of my life. From a young age, Terri was interested in family history; she spent time gathering stories from relatives, researching, compiling histories, and doing temple work for her ancestors. She loved to celebrate her Scandinavian and Scottish heritage by joining heritage societies, attending festivals, and observing cultural traditions in her own home.
Terri was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the primary for 36 years. Her favorite and longest-held calling was cub scout leader. She graciously shared her testimony of the Gospel and life wisdom with close friends and family. She taught Joy School, cared for numerous family pets and livestock, coached soccer, and cooked recipes from all over the world. Professionally, she managed and supported her husband’s podiatry practice.
Terri especially enjoyed traveling with her family; she taught her children a love for knowledge and exploration. She shared this love of travel with her grandchildren and went on many adventures with them. She had a wonderful relationship with each of her eight granddaughters and two grandsons.
She is preceded in death by stepfather Donald Flynn and stepmother Gay Unander. Terri is survived by her husband Robert Gordon Basinger of Provo, UT, children: Elizabeth (Ryan) Combs of Provo, UT, Robert (Nya) Basinger of Watford City, ND, John Basinger of Springville, UT, Victoria (Kendall) Lovett of American Fork, UT, and James Basinger of Springville, UT. Her parents are Delwin Unander of Boise, ID and Jeanette Flynn of Sparks, NV. Siblings: Denise Unander of Sparks, NV, Rhonda Unander of Sparks, NV, Roger (Petra) Unander of Palm Beach, FL, Connie (Ken) Zaske, Katie Unander of Boise, ID, Douglas (Pat) Empey, Lynn Empey, Jane Simpson of Boise, ID; and 10 grandchildren.
God be with you till we meet again.
