The Ogden Raptors fall 11: 9 in a Sunday affair against the Idaho Falls | Ogden raptors

Every time the Ogden Raptors took control of Sunday’s hot, evening matchup at Lindquist Field, the Idaho Falls Chukars tore it back.

The visiting chukars prevailed 11-9 thanks to a five-time eighth innings, despite Los Carnívoros (as the Raptors wore their Spanish-speaking uniforms) outperforming Idaho Falls at 15:11, with two potential rallies in the final two innings.

Ogden (30-20, 1-1) led 1-0 and 2-1 early on before IF made a fourth inning with five runs to create a 6-2 lead. Ogden regained the lead in the bottom third as Owen Taylor and Josh Broughton each delivered base-laden singles with two runs to put Ogden 7-6 ahead.

The Chukars (35-15, 1-1) responded immediately in the top of eighth place and hit John Timmins for two runs after Timmins finished a clean seventh place. Chris Campbell couldn’t stop the bleeding, leaving Matt Feinstein a triple homer, and Idaho Falls led 11-7.

Taylor scored another base-laden single in the bottom of the last 16 and scored one, but Kyle Kaufman ended the potentially groundbreaking rally by getting stuck in a double-play.

Jack Johnson led from the end of the ninth with a triple-to-right field and Jakob Goldfarb went out with an out. Andy Armstrong landed on the floor and scored Johnson to make it 11-9, but Pavin Parks was the potential bond run to end the game.

Broughton hit 3 for 5 to lead Ogden, who drove in two runs, while Taylor drove in three runs.

Ogden batsman designate David Maberry, the league’s leading batsman now at .483, scored two hits. He extended his hitting streak to 25 games with an RBI double in the first inning. He also drew two walks and increased his league best percentage to 0.578.

Timmins took the loss and Mason Alexander, who pitched 2/3 of an inning in the seventh, got the win. Feinstein drove for the Chukars in four runs.

Nick Michaels hit a solo homer for Ogden, his fourth of the season.

The two teams will play the last game of the series on Monday at 7 p.m.
