Top Performers, Eye Catchers from the Utah ESPN 300 Elite Underclassmen Camp

SALT LAKE CITY The ESPN 300 Elite Underclassmen Camp made its first ever stop in Salt Lake City, highlighted by a strong group of defensive linemen.

Held on the campus of Brighton HS, one of the most picturesque views you’ll find, with the Wasatch Mountains overlooking the stadium, it was the Linemen Show, with the best competition and deepest talent pool coming from the morning’s linemen session.

But there were other standouts from Utah, California and other states at the event.

It was a strong camp overall and with as many players as there were, it was impossible to see and fully evaluate everyone.

Here’s our look at some of the top performers we saw from today’s camp.

ALPHA DOG Kash DillonDL, Draper (Utah) Corner Canyon (2024)

One of the two DL MVPs, Dillon was fantastic all day and his reps in the 1-on-1s were pretty dominant. While he’s still a little on the slighter side, that’s what makes Dillon so intriguing- as he puts on weight and strength, he’ll even be a bigger force, but he was so quick off the edge, with a lightning first step, did a good job of dipping under his blockers and using his length and quickness to get around the tackles.

NEXT FIVE OFFENSE

Isaac Wilson, QB, Draper (Utah) Corner Canyon (2024)

Wilson is fresh off a big camp swing and was one of a handful of quarterbacks who came earlier in the day to throw to the running backs in addition to the multiple reps they got in their own session. He didn’t show any signs of fatigue though and was sharp especially in the 1-on-1s.

Ryder Burton, QB, Springville, Utah

Burton was just as busy on Saturday, throwing in the early session and was the top senior to be passer at the event. The BYU commit was actually visiting campus in the morning before coming to the camp and earned co-MVP honors with Wilson.

BrandonJohnsonRB, Palmdale (Calif.) Highland

Johnson was in contention for Alpha Dog and was probably the top offensive performer of the day. The Arizona commit said he only had about 6-7 receptions out of the backfield as a junior, but you wouldn’t have been able to tell, as he was smooth in his pass-catching abilities, had great wiggle and ability to stick his foot in the grass and dust his defender.

Miles HallWR, Salt Lake City (Utah) skyline

Hall was outstanding and was an easy selection for the WR MVP with a strong showing all day, both in the drills, the gauntlet and in the 1-on-1’s, tracking the ball, showing great body control and ability to tap his foot in the end zone on fades or when he was being pushed out of bounds.

Isaiah GarciaOL, Magna (Utah) Cyprus (2024)

Our pick for the top offensive lineman at the camp, and one of the two MVP’s at the position, he’s the top lineman in Utah in 2024 and the No. 2 prospect in the state and the Top247 prospect showed great flexibility and bend, quick feet and ended the day with an invitation to play in the 2024 Under Armor All-America Game.

NEXT FIVE DEFENSE

Motekiai MoungaDL, Provo (Utah) Timpview

The first thing you noticed with Mounga is the kid didn’t miss out on any reps. No one was quicker to the line for reps, no one was more willing to take reps, and no one had a better motor than him. While he did lose a couple, he also probably took more reps than anyone and he also won DL MVP honors with Dillon.

Isaac Terrell, DL, Lehi (Utah)

Terrell might have been right behind Mounga and Dillon when it came to reps, and was matching Mounga’s energy and motor. He’d line up outside, he lined up inside, and his initial step and leverage made him really difficult to block.

Tevita Pome’e, DL, Layton (Utah) Christian Academy

The Oregon commit really flashed during the individual drills, with several of the drills showing his foot speed and quickness. He has a nice defensive tackle frame and while he’s still a bit raw in his technique as a pass-rusher, he’s strong and got a consistent push.

Faimafili SnukaLB, Salt Lake City (Utah) West

Having just recently moved to Utah from Arizona, Snuka was great at re-routing running backs with his physicality at initial contact and was flying around all afternoon and was one of the two LB MVP’s.

Michael FalateaDB, Herriman (Utah)

Like the defensive lineman, Falatea wasn’t wasting reps, moving all around the secondary, and was locking up receivers and tight ends throughout the 1-on-1’s.

Other Eye Catchers:

-Sandy (Utah) Alta offensive lineman Taliafi Taala was another player who walked away with MVP honors, sharing the line MVP with Isaiah Garcia and he’s got the desirable frame with probably room to add another 15-20 pounds, particularly in his lower half.

-Roy (Utah) offensive lineman Cole Millward could be a sleeper in this class. He is tough and flexible with some frame upside.

-Lehi (Utah) 2024 offensive lineman Jensen Somerville is a little raw but has a chance to be really good and the clay is there.

-Two youngsters who caught our eye were St. George (Utah) Desert Hills 2025 offensive lineman Stewart Taufa, who had a few good reps at left guard but might have a future at center and 2026 defensive lineman Ocean Taufa. Desert Hills is the same school that produced 2019 Outland Trophy Award winner Penei Sewell.

-So too did Honolulu (Hawaii) Punahou center KJ Hallums, the 2025 prospect who already holds Pac-12 and Mountain West offers.

-Some of the other offensive lineman who caught our attention were Salt Lake City (Utah) East lineman Jonathan Brambila, Lehi (Utah) lineman Austin Boyd and Sandy (Utah) Alta 2024 lineman Siosaia Lapuaho as well as Salt Lake City (Utah) Granger center MatrixStorm Vaituu.

-Salt Lake City (Utah) Olympus defensive lineman Abraham Johnson first caught our attention at last month’s AveryStrong Lineman Challenge and since then, has picked up four offers and he was probably a top four defensive lineman for us. Even in the six weeks since we saw him, he’s grown immensely in his technique and should be one to really monitor this fall.

-Lehi (Utah) Skyridge 2025 Deshawn Toilolo may be a bit of a tweener but he showed burst off the edge and gave the offensive lineman with his speed and twitchiness.

-Kahuku (Hawaii) defensive lineman Stanley Raass just made the move from Utah to Hawaii but he should fit in right away with the Red Raiders’ defensive line, with his quickness and leverage while Salt Lake City (Utah) West defensive lineman Kymani Lautaimi and Lapwai (Idaho) 2024 defensive lineman Sage Lone Bear also had some nice reps.

-On Friday night, thanks to the influence of former Utah female football star Sam Gordon, who is now a soccer player at Columbia, the UA Next Girls Camp was held. And three of the top performers on Friday came back to participate in the ESPN 300 Elite Underclassmen Camp on Saturday- Herriman (Utah) running back Brielle LamprightHerriman (Utah) 2024 running back Ashley Wilcox and 2025 Sunset Ridge MS receiver Harmoni Hopoate. All three participate in the Utah Girls Football League, an all-tackle football league.

-Provo (Utah) Timpview linebacker Siale Esera showed a lot of energy and was one of the vocal leaders of the linebacker group and was especially energetic in the early drills during the first part of the camp and he left with LB MVP honors.

-Draper (Utah) Corner Canyon linebacker Owen Borg had an impressive pass break up in linebacker drills.

-Lehi (Utah) linebacker Sione Westover had a couple athletic pass breakups in 1-on-1’s against the running backs. He showed some lateral movement to him.

-Speaking of running backs, Salt Lake City (Utah) East back Amini Amone had a good day too, the Nevada commit probably the No. 2 running back at the event after Johnson while fellow East back Sesi Vailahi also made plays in running back-linebacker 1-on-1s.

-Provo (Utah) Timpview had two quarterbacks who had good days, 2024 passer Quezon Villa and 2026 quarterback Helaman Casuga.

-Lehi (Utah) quarterback Jackson Brousseau was consistent with his deep ball and has a real nice touch there, especially on some of the fades he threw.

-Salt Lake City (Utah) Brighton 2024 quarterback Jack Johnson was another quarterback who threw a ton of balls, to both the backs in the morning then to receivers in the afternoon. He has good arm action and could whip it on the move

-A case could have been made for two receiver MVPs and we thought Salt Lake City (Utah) East tight end Matthew Fredrick was the best tight end at the camp. He made catches with DB’s draped over him, showed the ability high point, run and get separation and bring in everything thrown to him.

-Draper (Utah) Corner Canyon tight end Bridger Davies was probably our second favorite tight end after Fredrick and has a good frame that will probably support another 20 pounds.

-BYU commit Pokaiaua Haunga from Provo (Utah) Timpview, 2024 teammate Tei Nacua , Orem (Utah) 2024 receiver Roger Saleapaga and a pair of 2026 prospects, Orem (Utah) 2026 receiver Chew Akana and Salt Lake City (Utah) Brighton 2026 receiver Jaxon Toala all had some terrible grabs in the 1-on-1’s.
