Uintah High School football season has ended after further positive COVID-19 tests

VERNAL, Utah – Uintah High School’s football season is over this week after the school has tested positive for COVID-19 again.

The Utes missed the last regular season game against Stansbury last week due to an outbreak at the school and will now have to give up their first-round match against Mountain View on Friday.

“On Tuesday, October 20, the Uintah High School soccer team met the criteria for a COVID-19 outbreak based on the results of subsequent testing by players and coaches. Three confirmed cases of COVID-19 in a 14-day period in a classroom or team setting constitute an outbreak as per public health protocols, “the Uintah School District wrote in a statement. “The contact follow-up for the new positive cases is ongoing; However, players and coaches have been in quarantine since October 13th. The quarantine is deemed necessary as the players and coaches had prolonged, close contact with a person who later tested positive for COVID-19 during a team meeting on October 12. No masks were worn during the meeting. “

The district mentioned that the school will find a way to honor its 19 seniors.

Uintah’s 2020 season ends with a 0-9 record.

Mountain View will advance to the second round of the 4A tournament to play against No. 6 to compete in Stansbury
