Utah and Wyoming successfully clash at the Caldwell Night Rodeo

CALDWELL, Idaho – The first performance of the Caldwell Night Rodeo looked like a match the riding dreams of saddle bronzes are made of. Allen Boore, a two-time Wrangler National Finals rodeo qualifier from Axtell, Utah, was excited to get on the kicking horse of the Powder River Rodeo After Party. He knew the horse, it was at a rodeo that has always been one of his favorites and at number 21 in the world he needs every dollar he can get to qualify for the rodeo championships. An outstanding performance by the two athletes led the judges to add their scores to a total of 86 points. Boore then became the lucky saddle bronc rider who drove the winning lap ahead of the rowdies and civies. “I’ve always loved this rodeo and I’ve done the short lap before but it’s still on my bucket list to win,” said Boore. “It’s always fun to drive this winning lap. The crowd and the atmosphere here are electrifying. You can feel the excitement. ”Bronc riding and bareback riding provide a full round of competition that concludes on Friday evening. At that time, the top 12 entrants will return to the D&B Supply Arena to compete for a Caldwell Night Rodeo Championship on Saturday night. The bull riding champion here will be based on the high score from all five performances. One driver was successful on Tuesday evening. Jate Frost, the younger brother of NFR bull riders Joe and Josh Frost, had a 79-point performance on Powder River Rodeo’s bulls named Kingdom. That probably won’t get him a championship here, but based on history it could certainly get him into the pay window. The second performance of the rodeo begins on Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. The regular rodeo competition lasts until Friday, August 20th. All participants hope to be here on Saturday, August 21, when the championships are awarded. The following are the current leaders at the 97th Caldwell Night Rodeo.
