Utah Jazz vs. Milwaukee Bucks Prediction, Preview, and Odds

On Saturday night, the Utah Jazz travel to the Fiserv Forum for an inter-conference road clash with the Milwaukee Bucks. The Jazz outlasted the New Orleans Pelicans 132-129 in overtime. The Bucks were destroyed 142-101 against the Memphis Grizzlies. The tip-off is scheduled for 8:10 PM ET. Milwaukee opens as a home favorite.

Clarkson Has Big Night in Jazz Win

The Utah Jazz and New Orleans Pelicans played an exciting overtime frame Thursday in a 132-129 Jazz win. Jordan Clarkson scored a season-high 39 points and had eight rebounds and Lauri Markkanen added 31 points. The Jazz never trailed in the extra period after Clarkson made a pair of baskets to put Utah up 127-123. Clarkson was 15 of 26 from the field and made seven triples to help Utah sweep the two-game set after beating New Orleans 121-100 on Tuesday night.

New Orleans held a 13-point third-quarter lead and looked ready to blow the game open before a handful of key baskets by Clarkson and Malik Beasley, who finished with 17.

”They kind of had control of the game there for a little bit, especially to start the third quarter and I thought that our team dug deep,” Jazz coach Will Hardy said after the game to Associated Press reporters. ”The bench gave us a big lift, and the guys responded.”

Utah scored 33 points off 18 New Orleans turnovers. After a scorching start and a subsequent “back to earth” phase, the Jazz are 17-14 and playing excellent basketball considering the changes made to their roster.

Buck’s Hammered in Memphis

The Milwaukee Bucks were thoroughly dismantled from start to finish in a 142-101 shellacking at the hands of Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies opened a 50-point lead in the fourth quarter for the NBA’s largest advantage this season. Milwaukee was held to 38 points in the paint, while Memphis had 86. Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis led the Bucks with 19 points each before Milwaukee coach Mike Budenholzer emptied the bench late in the third quarter.

”We were just beaten soundly in every way, shape, and form, and we have to own that,” Budenholzer said after the game to AP reporters.

The game was a major letdown considering it featured two of the top teams in each respective conference. The Bucks were not at full strength. Jrue Holiday missed his second game with a non-COVID-19 illness. So Serge Ibaka was a late scratch. Khris Middleton had a very bad shooting night, going 1 for 12 in the match. This can simply be put as a one-off, as the Bucks are one of the best teams in the NBA. They looked slow and lethargic, but look for them to bounce back in a big way here at home after they were embarrassed.

Rating:

The Bucks were destroyed by 40 points against the Memphis Grizzlies in their last game. The Grizzlies opened a 50-point lead in the fourth quarter for the NBA’s largest advantage this season. Milwaukee was held to 38 points in the paint in a dismal effort. Thankfully, most of their starters sat the second half and they will be fresh for this game. After a scorching start and a subsequent “back to earth” phase, the Jazz are 17-14 and playing excellent basketball considering the changes made to their roster. It has been the Jordan Clarkson and Lauri Markkanen show, and they will be held in check here against Milwaukee. Putting the last game in the rearview mirror, the Bucks are second in defensive rating and top three in rebounding percentage. Utah has lost six of its last seven road games.

Take the bucks to win big.

Prediction: Milwaukee Bucks -5

Full game total pick

Rating:

The majority of the Bucks’ bench was emptied during their drubbing last game. The bright spot is that Giannis, Khris Middleton, and the rest of the starting lineup will be fresh for this game. Jrue Holiday missed the game, but he is expected back for this inter-conference showdown with the Jazz. Middleton could not buy a basket last night out, but he will respond at home. Both clubs are in the top 15 in relation to their pace of play. The total number has gone over in seven consecutive games at the Fiserv Forum. The Jazz are no pushover, and they will score their fair share of points in a Bucks win.

Take the over.
