Utah Tech, SUU football to face off twice in revamped WAC schedule

The Western Athletic Conference released the finalized football schedule for this fall, revealing Southern Utah University and Utah Tech will face off twice in a home-and-home setting.

With Lamar and Incarnate Word backing out of the conference—highlighted by Lamar leaving on Monday to go back to the Southland—adjustments were once again needed with the continuing shuffling across college football.

The previously scheduled meeting for Sept. 24 in Cedar City is still on as scheduled and serves as the WAC opener for both teams.

Southern Utah takes the trip down I-15 on Nov. 5 to play the Trailblazers at 7 pm

The second matchup is a non-conference game for both squads.

SUU opens play against St. Thomas on Sept. 1 and travles up to Salt Lake to play Utah on Sept. 10.

Instead of playing Lamar on Oct. 29, Southern Utah will get a bye.

The Thunderbirds will now close out their regular season on the road at Sam Houston State on Nov. 19, instead of Incarnate Word as previously scheduled.

Incarnate Word announced its intentions to leave the conference on June 24.

Utah Tech was scheduled to play Incarnate Word on Nov. 12, and to host Lamar for homecoming on Oct. 8th.

The Trailblazers kick off their first full WAC season against Sacramento State on Sept. 3 on the road before their home opener against D-II Chadron State.

UTU closes WAC play at home against Tarleton State on Nov. 12, and its regular season in Provo at BYU on Nov. 19.
