Virtual racing for an incredible cause

Although Haiti is a beautiful landscape with an incredible culture, it has suffered a lot of devastation. It is considered to be the poorest country in the western hemisphere. Jeff Bigelow, President of Zion’s Children of Haiti (ZHC), visited our studio today to discuss how we can get involved in this cause.

ZHC is committed to supporting Haitian children by providing meals and promoting their education. They believe this will help prepare the children to become good citizens for their city and country.

Bigelow and his team support 60 children in Gonaives, Haiti. They are happy to announce that eight of these children have graduated and they are working on a scholarship program for postgraduate education.

They provide educational support, provide the children’s families with rice, beans and oil on a monthly basis, run a tutoring program and a computer room, and support a summer camp. Due to political unrest, the summer camp is canceled this year.

How can we help?

For the past 12 years, the ZHC has been running Running for Haiti’s Future, a virtual race that includes 1k, 5k and 10k. Her goal is to raise $ 7,500 for food aid and other needs.

The race started on August 7th and will last until August 14th. Participants will receive T-shirts and have the opportunity to take part in a raffle with incredible prizes. Further information on registration can be found at this link.

ZHC can also be found online, on IG and on FB.
