Every fall, millions of students go to school without basic school supplies. The backpacks will be packed by Vivint employees in July and August and distributed across the country by Vivint Gives Back, including more than 20,000 in Utah, 6,000 in Texas and 2,000 in Florida. Each backpack contains essential school supplies, from pencils and folders to handkerchiefs, and is distributed to students in grades K-12.

“Every year I am amazed at the commitment Vivint employees have shown to band together and give back,” said Todd Santiago, Vivint’s chief revenue officer. “Our employees strive to make the world a better place, and the amount they have raised to give students the basic necessities for success is a testament to who they are. By coming together, they have helped ensure that students in the communities we serve have the opportunities, education, and tools they need to actively participate in the improvement of their futures. “

As part of an awareness campaign launched by Vivint Gives Back during the NBA playoffs, Vivint Gives Back promised to send a child from underrepresented communities to the STEM camp for every Utah jazz assistant in the 2021 postseason. In the 2021 playoffs, the Utah Jazz had a total of 216 assists, but Vivint Gives Back decided to double that number to allow 432 kids to attend the camp this summer, of which over 100 will attend in person at Vivint Arena this week. Working with, a local STEM educational program for children, participants are introduced to programming and have the opportunity to receive hands-on learning that enhances their technological skills.

“Education can be a generational change for a child, and when students return to school in person, it’s more important than ever that they have the tools they need to succeed,” said Holly Mero, Vivint Gives Back representative . “Vivint employees across the country have come together to support students in their communities, and with great partners like Utah Jazz we can really make a difference for thousands of students this year.”
