Walmart hosting community COVID-19 vaccine events in Salt Lake City

UTAH (ABC4) – Utah is one of 18 states where Walmart will host a series of community events dedicated to the delivery of COVID-19 vaccines.

Walmart says the CDC is providing them with more allocations of the vaccine for these new efforts, which the retailer claims is rolling out in collaboration with local community leaders and nonprofits.

These new events are an extension of Walmart’s current role in the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program and complement Walmart’s ongoing vaccination program in more than 1,400 pharmacies in 35 states, Puerto Rico and Washington, DC through federal and state efforts.

Walmart says the vaccine events will be held at three locations in Salt Lake City, where they will begin administering the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines on Thursday, February 25th:

  • Walmart Supercenter – 350 Hope Ave., Salt Lake City
  • Walmart Supercenter – 3180 S 5600 W, West Valley City
  • Walmart Supercenter – 13502 Hamilton View Rd., Riverton

According to the retailer, eligible patients can schedule an appointment at Walmart.com. Appointments will be available for those who meet the current stage of Utah vaccination eligibility.

No insurance is required to get a vaccine at Walmart, and getting the vaccine is free. Individuals are encouraged to bring their state or personal health insurance cards.

Appointments for the second vaccination will be made at the first appointment. Walmart expects these events to take place in the next few weeks, if the allocation allows.

These locations in Utah and across the country were selected after an analysis of the area’s demographics, local health needs and gaps in critical access to medical services, according to Walmart.

These events are held in collaboration with community organizations at pass-through locations in Walmart parking lots, in-store, and at several off-site locations.

Walmart plans to continue these new events over the next few weeks, if vaccine allocations allow.
