Where every Utah product landed from the 2021 NFL draft, including BYU’s best haul since 2002

PROVO – When the BYU soccer team was forced to stand alone through the 2020 college football season as the only active team west of Texas, the Cougars marched on.

BYU put together a schedule for every team it could find during the COVID-19 pandemic – and with Pac-12, Big Ten, and Mountain West first pulling out of the season – BYU set its best season in over a decade one 11 together. 1 record and top 15 place in every major national poll, crowned by beating UCF in the Boca Raton Bowl.

The Cougars had a banner year on the field in 2020 and it resulted in a banner design with the largest selection in the top 7 rounds since 2002.

From Zach Wilson’s second largest selection by the New York Jets on Thursday – a program record of its own – to Dax Milne’s selection as the penultimate design election by the Washington soccer team, the Cougars had five picks spread over three days. This is the best since Doug Jolley (Raiders), Ryan Denney (Bills), Brandon Doman (49ers), Luke Staley (Lions) and Brett Keisel (Steelers) were selected between the second and seventh rounds of the show’s draft in 2002.

BYU’s banner year helped kickstart a high school product banner year in Utah that featured former Bingham high star Jay Tufele (USC) and Brighton’s Simi Fehoko (Stanford) – along with Penei Sewell, Oregon from Desert Hills – the state’s number increased to a total of seven picks, including two in the top 10 overall. That’s the best in the history of the Utah High School Activities Association, breaking the previous record of five in 2019.

Two prospects came from Bingham High in Tufele and BYU-wide recipient Dax Milne.

But the draft of the season isn’t over yet. The teams add free agents and invite the camp while we speak. Here’s a look at where everyone who played in the state of Utah ended up. Check back often to see if your favorite player made it into the league.
