Wood Scores, Gives RSL Early Lead Against Dynamo

SALT LAKE CITY – Real Salt Lake forward Bobby Wood scored for the third time this season and gave his club an early lead against Houston Dynamo FC.

RSL hosted Houston at Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday, May 28.

During the 29th minute of action, Maikel Chang crossed a ball into the box. Wood put his head on the ball and sent it sailing into the back of the net for the first goal of the match.

Wood’s goal gave Real Salt Lake a 1-0 lead over Houston.

The header was Wood’s third goal of the 2022 campaign.

Wood entered the game with a pair of goals, one assist, 19 shots, and nine shots on target.

He’s appeared in 12 matches for RSL this season.

Real Salt Lake vs Houston Dynamo FC

Real Salt Lake will welcome Houston to Rio Tinto Stadium Saturday night in front of another expected sell-out crowd.

The upcoming fixture will mark the second outing between the two clubs who met during the opening game of the 2022 season. The first fixture ended in a scoreless draw.

Real Salt Lake enters the fixture coming off an impressive 2-1 road victory against Eastern Conference foe FC Montreal. Houston, on the other hand, enters the contest coming off a 2-1 midweek US Open Cup loss to Sporting Kansas City. Their last MLS fixture ended in a 3-0 victory on the road against the LA Galaxy.

RSL have earned a draw or better in each of their matches at Rio Tinto Stadium this season.
