The 2021 Utah High School football playoffs kicked off Friday with a majority of favorites to win.
The defending 5A champion Orem came into the postseason with a three-game losing streak that put the Tigers at number 22. The ride for a fifth straight state championship began with a solid 42-22 loss to No. 12 Brighton.
Orem # 5 is getting Provo next week
Another surprise in 5A was East’s 35-7 road win over Cedar Valley. East entered the game as No. 22. Cedar Valley was the No. 11 seed.
