A Gilded Age Christmas begins November 26th at the Staatsburgh State Historic Site – Daily Freeman

STATE CASTLE, NY – A Gilded Age Christmas with lavish decorations begins Friday, November 26th at the Staatsburgh State Historic Site, 75 Mills Mansion Drive.

The decorations create a stunning and festive tour experience at Beaux Arts Country House, one of the great Hudson Valley estates. Visits are only possible after prior reservation at www.bookeo.com/StaatsburghSHS. “A Gilded Age Christmas” runs until New Year’s Eve.

Visitors can tour the manor’s ground floor Thursday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (last entry at 3:30 p.m.) through Thursday, December 23rd. The site is closed on December 24th and 25th. From December 26th to December 31st. Staatsburgh is open daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (last entry at 3:30 p.m.)

In addition, the Staatsburgh is open on Friday evening, December 10th and 17th, from 6pm to 8pm, last entry at 7.30pm, clothes, toys and other gifts.

Admission is $ 8 per person. It’s $ 6 for seniors and students. Children up to 12 years are free.

Staatsburgh was the Gilded Age country house of Ruth Livingston Mills, a prominent figure in New York society, and her husband, financier and philanthropist Ogden Mills. Her stately home, overlooking the Hudson River in the hamlet of Staatsburg, was remodeled in 1895 by the famous architect Stanford White and expanded to 79 rooms.

Staatsburgh State Historic Site and Ogden Mills & Ruth Livingston Mills Memorial State Park are located on Old Post Road in Staatsburg, on US Route 9 between Rhinebeck and Hyde Park. The historic site is one of six sites and 15 parks administered by the Taconic Region Department of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Conservation of New York State.
