Accident on Saturday morning on I-215 claims a life

SALT LAKE CITY – A 65-year-old man from West Valley City died in an accident on I-215 in the early minutes of Saturday morning.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol, the man was driving a Ford F-150 south on 1-215 when it crashed into the left concrete barrier at 12:49 p.m. The truck skidded along the barrier a little before coming to a stop.

When the vehicle came to a standstill, the UHP said the driver got out of the vehicle and walked into traffic. He was hit by a Chevy Express van. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to UHP, witnesses reported that the man walked into traffic.

The emergency services on site also suspect that the victim could have been drunk. Alcohol containers were found in the truck, according to UHP reports.

The victim’s identity was not disclosed.
