Austin Mehlhoff, age 32, passed away October 5, 2022 in Austin, Texas. Austin was born on March 17, 1990 in Provo, Utah to Jackie and Taryn Mehlhoff. He was a younger brother to Whitney, twin to his sister Ariel, and older brother to Landon and Micah. Austin grew up in Highland, Utah and lived briefly in Lehi, Utah before moving to Austin, Texas where he lived the past three years running his own company.

He had a creative mind and explored many artistic avenues, such as writing stories, playing the guitar, and had a huge passion for music, movies, and Zelda. He had a special love for dogs — if you needed a dog sitter, Austin was your guy and would care for them like little angels. He was also very adventurous and athletic. He excelled in the long jump and high jump while at Lone Peak High School. As he got older, he became an avid hiker and rock climber. He was known for being spontaneous, leaving on trips at a moment’s notice, and enjoying his free time exploring. On family vacations and even at a young age — Austin would sneak out at night and go find a city, beach, or mountain to explore. And each time he would inevitably lose a personal item.

Austin was blessed with a gorgeous full head of hair and the thickest beard you’ve ever seen. He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh with his family and friends. He was adored by his nieces and nephew whom he doted on. Those who knew Austin describe him as unfailingly kind and fun to be around. He was a very special, rare soul who spent much of his life reaching out to those in need with uncommon empathy and compassion.

Austin, we love you and we will miss you every moment of every day until we meet again. We hope you realize how so many loved and cherished you.

Austin loves and is loved very dearly by his family: his parents Jackie and Taryn Mehlhoff; his brother and sisters: Landon; Micah; Whitney and her children Rowan, Echo, and Jude; Ariel and her husband Evan and their children, Elowen, Willa, and Marlowe; his stepmother Esmeralda Pena and Ayla; his grandparents Barbara and Jack (deceased) Yalden, and Jeanice and Don (deceased) Mehlhoff; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services will be Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 11:00 am with a visitation from 9:30-10:45 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 2150 Pointe Meadow Drive, Lehi, Utah 84043.

Austin’s dream was to rescue a dog, so in lieu of flowers, money can be donated to an animal rescue shelter.
