SALT LAKE CITY — A former Uintah High School health teacher has been arrested for investigation of unlawful sexual conduct with a 16-year-old student, according to a news release.
Rodd Adam Repsher, 33, was arrested Wednesday, according to the statement from the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office.
The case involving Repsher began in October 2016 when a teacher at Uintah High School discovered Repsher alone in his classroom with the student, officials said. Repsher was immediately placed on administrative leave and later fired. He had been teaching at the school since 2012; however, no criminal charges were filed in the case after the student was interviewed and did not disclose any information to law enforcement officials.
In July of this year, a classmate of the teen contacted a Uintah County sheriff’s detective, who is also the school resource officer at Uintah High School. The classmate said the teen had told her she was in a relationship with Repsher, according to the release. Several days later, the classmate and teen went to Repsher’s house, where the classmate said she saw Repsher kissing the teen several times.
The detective then contacted the teen, now an adult, who said she wanted to talk, the release states.
In a September interview, the woman said she had sexual encounters with Repsher multiple times while she was 16 and he was teaching at the high school, the release states. All the encounters took place in Uintah County at the school, at Repsher’s home and at a local business where Repsher worked, according to the release.
In a statement from the Uintah School District, Superintendent Mark Dockins said he was grateful for the detective’s work in the case.
“I am also proud of those who came forward and spoke with investigators,” Dockins said. “This incident clearly illustrates the importance of school resource officers. They are a vital part of our school community and the relationships they form with our administrators, teachers and students help keep our campuses safe.”
The district fully complied with the sheriff’s office investigation in Repsher’s case, the statement said.
The district conducted an internal investigation into the incident, including reviewing Repsher’s school email account. Results of the investigation were turned over to the sheriff’s office, according to the statement.
Repsher was booked into the Uintah County Jail on Wednesday afternoon, according to a booking report. Formal criminal charges have not yet been filed in the case, according to court records.
