Georgian Butler Obituary (1943 – 2022) – Ogden, UT

Surrounded by her family, Georgian Pearce Butler of Syracuse, Utah passed away Wednesday June 22, 2022 after a prolonged battle with long-haul Covid. Georgian was born April 21, 1943 in Logan, Utah and spent the first several years of her life in Paradise, Utah. Growing up in a rural community, she learned the value of hard work from her parents and followed in her mother’s footsteps cooking delicious meals for her family. She was meticulously clean and her home was always spotless. Her strong work ethic prepared her to provide love and service to her family and Savior. She loved her family with all of her heart and most activities were centered around being together. She also loves native American peoples due to spending two years at the Intermountain Indian School in Brigham City where her dad taught. Georgian was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a strong testimony of the Savior and served Him in a variety of callings in Relief Society, Primary and Young Women’s. She served alongside her loving husband of 58 years, as a part-time missionary to teenagers at Weber Valley Youth Center and as a full time missionary to the Cambodian people in Long Beach, California and to the people of the Legacy Park Stake in Syracuse, Utah. She was a true disciple of Jesus Christ and always ministered to others.
She was a devoted daughter of Owen and Wanda Burrell.
Georgian graduated with the first graduating class of Bonneville High School in 1961. She first met the future love of her life while a teenager living in Washington Terrace. They met in their 8th grade math class and were smitten with each other within a few years. She married Dennis Keith Butler on October 3, 1963 and they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan Temple on October 1, 1964. She attended Weber State College. Her and Dennis spent time in Phoenix, Arizona and Aberdeen, Idaho before settling in Roy, Utah to raise their family. After her children were mostly grown and after spending a few years working at Jorgenson Book Store, she spent 15 years working in the Cashiers Office at Weber State University. In addition to family, her and Dennis love to travel with friends and have visited many places around the globe.
Georgian was the loving mother of Cory (LeAnn) Butler, Darby (Troy) Wessman, Jody (Brock) McMillan, Chad (Angie) Butler, and Mandy (Jake) Raymond. She also has 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, children, and grandchildren, she is survived by her mother–Wanda Burrell and her siblings–Bruce Burrell, Lonnie Burrell, Kevin Burrell, Blake Burrell and Tammy Hammer. As a side note, the bond with her siblings has always been very close and unbreakable.
The viewing will be held on Sunday, June 26, 2022, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Myers Mortuary, 5865 S. 1900 W., Roy, UT 84067. The funeral service will be held on Monday, June 26 , 2022 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Center Ward LDS Church Building, 2228 S. 1660 W. Syracuse, UT 85075. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral from 9:30-10:30 am. Burial will follow the funeral at Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 E Washington Blvd., Ogden, UT 84403.
