Jimmy D. Murray was the seventh child, born on September 28, 1946, to Arlie & Myrtle Gurr Murray in Vernal, Utah. He died in Jensen Utah on September 9, 2021. Jimmy grew up in Jensen. He attended Jensen Elementary School, Ashley Valley Jr. High, and Uintah High School in Vernal Utah, which he graduated in 1964. He joined the National Guard in 1964 straight out of high school and served until 1970, when he was honored. Jimmy married Gloria Jean Stewart, his childhood sweetheart and love of his life, on June 3, 1967 in Jensen, Utah. Jimmy and Gloria were inseparable for 64 years and married for 54 years. Jimmy & Gloria are the parents of two sons, Dwayne James and Troy Dean Murray, as well as Rachelle, Devin and TJ. Jimmy leaves behind his wife Gloria from the family home, Dwayne James (Tarlene) von Jensen, Rachelle (Tyson), Devin (Levi) & Troy “TJ” (Murray. 7 grandsons Colby (Natosha) von Roosevelt, Caleb von Roosevelt, Caitlin (Colton) from Vernal and 3 great-grandchildren PrayZlee, LaColbi, Emmra and one on the road. Sister JoAnn McCracken from Farmington New Mexico, sister-in-law Jean (Blaine) from Rangely Colorado, Sandy (Ferris) from Vernal and many nieces and nephews. His parents went to him Arlie and Myrtle Murray, son Troy Dean, grandson Chase, his brothers Ferris, Blaine, George, Doyle, Roger “Bud” Murray and sister Elaine Bascom in death. Jimmy was the toughest guy we’ll ever meet. He knew him Worth hard work and unconditional love. He was a great husband, father and grandfather. We always knew he was the ideal example of what a father should be. He was a farmer at heart, the farm was everything to him and his family , he raised sheep, grew o R Indian, bred, watered, whatever! It’s because of Jimmy and all his courage and generosity; We are the family we are today. Whenever Jimmy wanted something to be done right, he always said, “Then I’d better do it myself.” With a smile, as always. He worked in the oil field between the ages of 17 and 68 and happily retired in 2013. Everyone knew they had to drive past the house to see if the garage door was open for the occasional beer or a chat. He loved the mountains, loved fishing, loved hunting, and loved everything about nature. He loved farming “TJ” with his son Dwayne and grandchildren Rachelle, Devin, Troy. Jimmy has numerous friends, family, former co-workers, and many more who will greatly miss his presence.
Services for Jimmy D Murray will be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Uintah Western Park.
Visits are available Monday 6-8pm at Blackburn Vernal Mortuary and Tuesday at Western Park 1 hour beforehand.
