July 27 data: 7 more COVID-19 deaths, Utah with an average of more than 600 new cases daily

Utah counted seven more COVID-19 deaths from five counties on Tuesday, including a man and a woman aged 25 to 44.

None of the seven killed were over 84 years old and only two were over 64 years old. The deaths were counted in Davis, Millard, Salt Lake, Uintah and Washington counties, bringing the total number of people killed by coronavirus in the state to 2,441.

The state has also counted 613 new test-confirmed cases since Monday, bringing the seven-day moving average to 653. The state does not disclose the identity of those killed by the virus, but does provide data on who has been killed and a statistical breakdown by gender, age, and other factors.

There are currently 338 people in hospital with the virus.

Doctors in northern Utah said they were nervous about areas where COVID-19 cases are increasing.

“At the moment we have a high number of patients in the hospital,” said Dr. Taki May, the medical director of Logan Regional Hospital.

The CDC is expected to change its masking guidelines to recommend that people who have been vaccinated also wear masks indoors in parts of the US where COVID-19 is rising. Los Angeles and St. Louis have reverted to indoor masking requirements amid the virus surge.
