Kenneth Nielsen obituary (1931-2021) – Orem, UT

Kenneth E Nielsen (Ken) passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 10, 2021, at his home with his wife Nedra and his family.
Ken was born on October 13, 1931 in Provo, Utah to James Eugene Nielsen and Lillian Russell, and had 9 siblings.

Ken had such a sweet loving manner. He made everyone feel welcome and loved; always tell a joke and bring out the positive in life. He always puts a smile on your face. His home was a safe place for his children and grandchildren where they would always feel loved.

He attended Provo High School, graduating in 1949, and then served in the U.S. Army for two years. He worked for the US Postal Service for 40 years and retired in 1993.

Ken loved sports. He played softball and golf for many years. He was an avid BYU Cougars fan, worked in the soccer chain gang for 45 years, attending as many basketball, baseball, and volleyball games as he could. His other team were the New York Yankees, and he wore his Yankees hat everywhere. He was the announcer for the Provo High School football and girls’ basketball games because he loved watching and attending the games even after his children graduated. He attended every game, game, dance, or ceremony of his children and grandchildren that he could.

Ken leaves behind his 69-year-old wife, Nedra Naomi Jensen; his children Kathy Anderson (Phil), Kenneth Craig (KC) Nielsen (Lynette), Karen Levetan (Cory), Kristine Kay (Kristy) Katter (Brent); 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and sister Iona Green. In death his parents and 8 siblings precede him.
