Magnitude 2.9 earthquake felt across northern Utah Thursday night

ENTERPRISE, Utah, April 29, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) – A 2.9 magnitude earthquake located six miles outside of the small town of Enterprise in Morgan County was felt in parts of northern Utah Thursday evening.

According to the US Geological Survey, the Temblor hit about seven miles below the surface at 8:14 p.m.

Dozens of residents from Ogden to Salt Lake City reported the small quake.

There were no reports of damage or injury.

Utahns have been nervous lately, and dozens of small quakes have been registered and reported across the state. On April 21, a 3.0 shaker rattled your nerves in Iron County about 10 miles north of Cedar City. Two days earlier, a 3.4 magnitude earthquake struck under the Great Salt Lake in Box Elder County.

Seismologists at the University of Utah seismology stations say there has been a swarm of earthquake activity near Milford in the Escalante Valley in the past few weeks. Between March 19 and April 3, one hundred and six quakes were recorded, the magnitude of which ranges from imperceptible 0.8 to 3.2.

Utah’s seismic activity is believed to be due to aftershocks caused by the 5.7 magnitude earthquake on the morning of March 18, 2020 outside Magna. The quake was felt by 2.3 million people across the state and caused $ 629 million in damage, according to the Federal Emergency Management agency.
