Police say Derrick D. White, 39, was seen by witnesses yelling at his missing dog and brandishing an ax outside the Lowe’s hardware store

The woman asked White to calm down and told him she was calling the police about fears he was causing harm to someone. Before the police arrived, White continued yelling at his missing dog and started chopping leaves from a tree.

White “aggressively” raised his ax to the woman and ran towards her. He yelled that he was going to “kill their _______ children”. A witness stepped in to prevent White from harming the woman.

When an officer got to the parking lot, he found a large metal ax and saw damage to the small tree that White had cut. The Lowe’s surveillance video showed White running towards the woman.

White told the policeman that he had used the hatchet “to allay his frustrations for his missing dog on the tree.” He also admitted running towards the woman after being annoyed for calling the police, but said he would not harm her.
