Elevation renders of a proposed McDonald’s on Rt. 309 near Passer Road in Upper Saucon Township.

Elevation views for the Upper Saucon Township Zoning & Code Enforcement Officer Trent Sear restaurant show plans for a dark gray building with vertical stripes framing the windows with a light gray stone and dark gray vertical stripes.

The McDonald’s is planned by developer Provo Pinegood Coopersburg.

The design is similar in appearance to other McDonald’s that have been built or remodeled in recent years to match the company’s updated “desert” architectural design.

A site development map created by Bohler Engineering and approved by Sear shows that the building will be aligned lengthways on an east-west axis, exactly south of the new Wawa.

The McDonald’s will have one entry lane that splits into two lanes roughly in the middle of the building.

It will be surrounded by approximately 40 parking lots and landscaped buffers that encompass an island that separates the parking lot from Wawa’s property. The plots will be connected at both ends of the island according to the map.

The scheme shows a single-lane driveway for the drive through, which is divided into two lanes on the west side of the building, some of which are separated by an island.

Primary access to McDonald’s is from Rt. 309, where a driveway will be split to form a one-way street and exit the parking lot.

The closest McDonald’s to the one planned in Upper Saucon Township is located at 14 Main Street in Hellertown, about 4 miles away. Additional McDonald’s restaurants are nearby in Quakertown, South Bethlehem and South Allentown.
