November 12 data: Utah reports 22 more COVID-19 deaths over the weekend

After a delay in reports on Veterans Day, the Utah Department of Health announced that another 22 Utahners have lost their battle against COVID-19.

Of the 22 new deaths, 16 were men and six were women.

Three of those killed by the virus were between 25 and 44 years old. All were hospitalized at the time of their death.

Case numbers remain high, with just over 2,000 new positive tests on Wednesday and over 1,700 on Veterans Day Thursday. 20 cases were removed through quality analysis, according to UDOH.

Of the 3,842 new cases reported this Friday, 892 of them belong to school-age children.

The number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients remains above 500, with data suggesting that unvaccinated people are 11.4 times more likely to be hospitalized by the virus.

Unvaccinated people have an 18.3 times higher risk of death than people vaccinated against COVID-19

THE UDOH WILL REPORT THE FOLLOWING FRIDAY:

Positive:

We will report 571,507 positive cases today. That’s an increase of 3,842 new cases since Wednesday. Twenty cases were removed through data quality analysis.

  • 11/10 – 2,083 cases
  • 11.11. – 1,779 cases

School-age cases:

  • 892 of the new cases reported today are in school-age children. As of Wednesday, we will be reporting 468 cases in children ages 5 to 10, 196 cases in children ages 11 to 13, and 228 cases in children ages 14 to 17.

Vaccinations:

  • We will report 3,904,030 total vaccines administered, 29,631 more than on Wednesday.

Vaccinated vs. unvaccinated risk ratio:

  • In the past 28 days, unvaccinated people had an 18.3 times higher risk of dying from COVID-19, 11.4 times higher risk of being hospitalized for COVID-19, and a 4.6- times higher risk of testing positive for COVID-19 than vaccinated people.
  • As of February 1, 2021, unvaccinated people have an 8.5 times higher risk of dying from COVID-19, 7.2 times higher risk of being hospitalized for COVID-19, and 3.4 – times the risk of testing positive for COVID-19 than vaccinated people.

Laboratory tests:

  • We will report 3,818,573 people tested. That’s an increase of 18,859 people tested since Wednesday.
  • We will report a total of 6,932,600 tests. That’s an increase of 38,319 tests since Wednesday.

Tendencies:

  • The 7-day rolling average for positive tests is 1,568 per day.
  • The 7-day rolling average for the percent positivity of “people over people” is 17.3%. The 7-day rolling average for percent positivity of “tests over tests” is 11.2%.

Hospital stays:

  • There are currently 538 people in hospital with COVID-19. The total number of hospital admissions since the outbreak began is 24,896.

Deaths:

We will report a total of 3,347 deaths, that’s 22 new deaths since Wednesday.
