Kathy Darlene Slaugh, a life-long resident of Meeker, passed away peacefully at her home in Meeker on Friday, July 23, 2021. She was 61.

A memorial service dedicated to Kathy’s life will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Latter-day Saints’ Church of Jesus Christ in Meeker. The burial takes place in the Highland Cemetery.

Kathy Darlene Soper was born on October 17, 1959 in Meeker, Colorado, to Keith and Darlene (Evenson) Soper. Kathy grew up attending public schools in Meeker.

After school, Kathy married Allen Slaugh on December 11, 1974 in Meeker. From this connection a son and a daughter were born. After several years of marriage, the couple later divorced.

As the children grew up, Kathy helped her grandma Evenson clean the cabins at Evenson Ranch in Meeker. Her most important role was to become a loving mother and a devoted grandmother. In her spare time, Kathy enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and learning new hobbies. Kathy was also an avid bowler and enjoyed playing in a league for many years. Kathy especially loved spending time with family and close friends.

Kathy leaves behind her son Allen Slaugh of Vernal, Utah; Daughter Rachel Willey and her husband Tobey of Meeker; and a sister, Kim Laing, of Bend, Oregon. Kathy is also survived by six grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins ​​and extended family.

Kathy was preceded by her parents in death; and her grandson Tayler Slaugh.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests making memorial donations to Latter-day Saints’ Church of Jesus Christ in Meeker to commemorate Kathy.
