A new owner acquired Armstrong House, sometimes known as Armstrong Dune House, which was built on 43 Cedar Trail in the lakefront town of Ogden Dunes in 1939. It was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, the pioneer of the Prairie School and the Usonian Style of Architecture, named the Greatest American Architect of All Time by the American Institute of Architects.

Brian Bobek, a resident of Oak Park, Illinois, bought the home in April for $ 1.02 million, according to Porter County’s real estate records.

The 3,696-square-meter house sits on landscaped, wooded grounds on a sloping sand dune. It’s two stories high with four bedrooms, four bathrooms, and a retro carport. The brick house has two brick fireplaces, a sauna, a large lounge, lots of natural light and a screened veranda that shows the surrounding wooded area.

“This particular home has been meticulously cared for,” said Chicago-based Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy. “Original Wright features include classics like board and slatted woodwork, built-in bookshelves, and clapboard windows.”

One of roughly 1,000 buildings Wright designed, the Usonian House was in the market for months and eventually sold for less than the original price of $ 1.2 million. The house, which was marketed as a “unique masterpiece” and “not just a home but a work of art”, was sold as it is.
