Salt Lake City police working to identify suspect in 2 bank robberies

Salt Lake City police are trying to identify a man they say robbed two banks in a matter of hours Tuesday afternoon.

The first robbery took place at a Deseret Credit Union, located at 9325 South Village Shop Drive in Sandy, at 4:23 pm, according to a news release. The suspect was carrying a firearm in his front waistband that he touched multiple times during the robbery, the release states.

Police say the suspect then robbed an America First Credit Union, located at 1799 South Pioneer Road in Salt Lake City, about 90 minutes later, at 5:52 pm During the second robbery, the man allegedly passed a note and referenced a firearm.

The suspect was described as white, around 5′6 and in his mid-20s, with a slight build and a little facial hair. He was last seen wearing a button-up shirt with a collar and dress pants, the release states.

As of Tuesday night, officials were asking anybody with information to call 911 and reference the Salt Lake City robbery.
