US fines software company SAP $8M over Iran sanctions | Business News

WASHINGTON (AP) – US prosecutors said Thursday that software giant SAP will have to pay $ 8 million in fines to acknowledge allegations that it illegally exported its products to Iran.

The US said the German company would have received harsher penalties if it had not voluntarily disclosed activities that violated US sanctions against Iran.

The company agreed to the penalties under an agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice, Commerce, and Treasury.

SAP welcomed the resolution in a statement on Thursday.
