KC Shelton of Ogden will cast its ballot in a mailbox outside the main library in Ogden on Tuesday, November 3, 2020.

OGDEN – Turnout in a year with no elections like this one usually lags behind that in a presidential year.

To counter this, Voterise and the Weber County League of Women Voters will distribute information on voting and registration in Ogden on Saturday. The focus will be on neighborhoods with traditionally low voter turnout, and volunteers are being sought, according to the league.

The Get Out the Vote Day of Service takes place on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

“This year we are promoting the 2021 local elections. In the last nationwide local elections, fewer than 28% of registered voters took part in the 19 constituencies we are targeting this year!” Reads a statement by Liga and Voterise.

On Saturday, participants will hang information leaflets on the doors of houses in target areas, but will not knock on doors.

Voters in locations across Weber County will vote to open mayor’s and city council seats. The ballot papers are to be sent to registered voters from October 12th. The last day for registration and voting is October 22nd, while voting will culminate on November 2nd.
